The Panthers Post Dominate Performance at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover women's swimming team used a record setting performance to capture a third-place finish in the five-team field at the Transylvania Invitational hosted at the University of Kentucky Lancaster Aquatic Center.

The Blue and Red were led by freshman Ilys Anderson (Hebron, Ky.) with school records in the 100-yard free and 100-yard back, while teammate freshman Maddie Difilippo (Cincinnati, Ohio) set the school record in the 100-yard fly.

Anderson won the 100-yard free with a record setting time of 55.16 after entering the event with a seeded time of 58.85. She also took second in the 100-yard back with a school record time of 1:00.99 shaving nearly two seconds off her prelim time. The record setting time broke the previous record of 1:05.21.

In the 100-yard fly, Difilippo claimed a first-place mark with a time of 59.89 capturing the school record.

In the 200-yard free relay, the Panther team claimed second overall with a time of 1:42.57 just a half second shy of another Panther record.

Freshman Emelia Currin (New Albany, Ind.) found success in the 200-yard IM finishing fifth in the 12-person field with a time of 2:29.55.

Freshman Megan Quinn (Richmond, Ind.) claimed a fifth-place mark in the 500-yard free in a time of 5:42.03 nearly a second faster than her prelim time.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Liv Loran (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and freshman Liz Bolinger (Kendallville, Ind.) paced the way finishing second and fourth respectively. Loran swam the event in a time of 1:11.47 while Bolinger completed the race with a time of 1:16.51.

Senior Megan Brandt (Guyton, Ga.) competed strong in the 200-yard back with an eighth-place finish in a time of 2:25.93, while the 800-yard free relay took fourth overall.

The 200-yard medley relay claimed a top tier finish with a second-place mark in a time of 1:54.03, while the 400-yard medley took fourth in a time of 4:20.45.

Loran also had success in the 50-yard free finishing the race in third place with a time of 25.68. In the 100-yard back, Brandt took eighth in the 12-swimmer field in a time of 1:06.79.

Quinn, Brock, and Currin all found success in the 200-yard free with Quinn pacing the way finishing third overall. Brock took fourth in the event while teammate Currin registered a seventh-place mark.

Rounding out the weekend for the Panthers was Bollinger in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:54.14.

The Blue and Red return to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 28 as they descend on their annual winter trip to Clermont, Fla.
