NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Hanover College women's swimming and diving team took down Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Manchester on Saturday afternoon, 116-51.
The afternoon opened with a victory from freshman Ilys Anderson (Hebron, Ky.) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.30. The momentum carried into the 100-yard backstroke where sophomore Sydney Schulok(Cincinnati, Ohio) claimed the top spot in a time of 1:09.06.
The 50-yard butterfly saw the Panthers sweep the top three spots as freshman Maddie Difilippo (Cincinnati, Ohio) won the event with a time of 29.40. Senior Megan Brandt (Guyton, Ga.) took second in the race while teammate freshman Megan Quinn (Richmond, Ind.) finished third overall. However, it didn't stop there as they also found success in the 50-yard freestyle with Schulok taking the top spot in a time of 28.15. Following her across the finish line was teammate freshman Liz Bolinger (Kendallville, Ind.) with a time of 28.63 and junior Meagan Miles (Nabb, Ind.) in third with a time of 29.94.
In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Lindsey Hoskins (Columbus City, Ind.) finished first overall in a time of 1:01.31, while teammate Anderson claimed another top mark in the 50-yard backstroke touching the wall with a time of 29.89. DiFillippo dominated the 50-yard breaststroke taking first overall in a time of 39.00.
The 500-yard freestyle saw Quinn claim first place with a time of 5:51.68 followed by Brandt in second in a time of 6:01.29.
Rounding out the day for the Panthers was Miles in the 400-yard IM winning the event with a time of 5:36.06.
The Panthers return to action on Friday, January 24 as they play host to Transylvania. First event is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
