TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Freshman Ilys Anderson (Hebron, Ky.) earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors to lead the women's swimming team on day two of the HCAC Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman. The Panthers sit in fourth place overall with 201 points.
Anderson claimed a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.94 after qualifying for the finals with a runner-up finish in a time of 59.88. Sophomore Sydney Schulok (Cincinnati, Ohio) captured a seventh-place mark in the event with a time of 1:03.12.
Freshman Maddie Difilippo (Cincinnati, Ohio) found success in the 100-yard butterfly taking fourth overall with a time of 1:00.25. The 200-yard medley relay of Schulok, freshman Liz Bolinger (Kendallville, Ind.), Difilippo, and freshman Emelia Currin (New Albany, Ind.) also captured a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:54. 77.
The 200-yard medley relay also saw the team of freshman Kelli Brock (Mooresville, Ind.), junior Meagan Miles (Nabb, Ind.), freshman Megan Quinn (Richmond, Ind.), and feshman Lindsey Hoskins (Columbia City, Ind.) take 10th overall in the race in a time of 2:02.32.
Bolinger claimed a fifth-place mark in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.09 after qualifying for the final with a time of 1:14.01.
The Panthers closed out day two with top 10 finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard IM. Quinn claimed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:02.30, while teammate Meagan Miles finished ninth in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:16.72.
The 800-yard freestyle team of Hoskins, Brandt, Anderson, and Quinn took fifth overall in the event with a time of 8:28.36.
The Blue and Red return to action tomorrow on the final day of the HCAC Championships. Prelims are set for 10:00 AM.
