HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's and women's swimming and diving team had a record-setting meet as part of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships where nine student-athletes garnered All-Conference honors. The Panthers saw 14 records fall as part of the three-day meet.
Leading the way for the Blue and Red was freshman Ilys Anderson (Hebron, Ky.) garnering All-Conference honors in two separate events while tying a team-best four records broken. The freshman claimed HCAC honors in the 100-yard backstroke finishing second overall with a school-record time of 59.88 set during prelims.
She also teamed up with sophomore Sydney Schulok (Cincinnati, Ohio), senior Megan Brandt (Guton, Ga.), and freshman Kelli Brock (Mooresville, Ind.) to claim All-Conference honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay touching the wall in 1:41.57.
Freshman Maddie Difilippo (Cincinnati, Ohio) garnered success in the three-day event claiming HCAC accolades in the 200-yard butterfly with a new school record swim of 2:16.33.
On the men's side, Hanover saw the 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Will Morgan (Lapel, Ind.), sophomore Louis Holbrook (New Palestine, Ind.), sophomore James Moll (Tipton, Ind.) and freshman Keegan Marx (Evansville, Ind.) capture HCAC honors with a second-place finish in a school-record time of 1:27.97.
Rounding out the All-Conference honors for the Blue and Red were Morgan, Moll, Marx, and Holbrook in the 400-yard freestyle relay taking second in a time of 3:17.45.
However, records continued to fall for the Panthers as Anderson carried the momentum all weekend long setting a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle with her prelim time of 25.15. She joined forces with freshman Lindsey Hoskins (Columbia City, Ind.), Brandt, and freshman Megan Quinn (Richmond, Ind.) in the 800-yard freestyle relay posting a record-setting performance with a time of 8:28.36.
Her final record-breaking performance came in the 400-yard free relay with teammates Brandt, Brock, and Schulok swimming the event in a time of 3:46.37.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Quinn found success setting the school record with a time of 2:02.30 while also claiming the school record in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:26.83 and the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:19.05. Junior Meagan Miles (Nabb, Ind.) set the Hanover record in the 400-yard IM with a prelim qualifying time of 5:16.72.
On the men's side, Moll claimed the HC record in the 100-yard backstroke with a prelim time of 56.72. Joining him was freshman Alex Dafforn (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the 200-yard IM swimming the event in a time of 2:04.37. The freshman also claimed the 400-yard IM record with a prelim qualifying time of 4:31.52.
The Hanover women's swimming team garnered a fourth-place finish, while the men's team took fifth as part of the HCAC Championships.
