HANOVER, Ind. - The Hanover women's tennis team will look for its third straight conference victory as they travel to face Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) this weekend.
The Panthers (2-1, 2-0 HCAC) will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 30. Hanover will then turn around and face IU-Southeast at 11 a.m., Sunday, October 1.
In their last match, the Panthers defeated Rose-Hulman, 6-3. In the No. 6 singles and the No. 3 doubles matches, Hanover swept the Engineers. Freshman Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.) swept on the singles side, while sophomore Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior Susie Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.) added an 8-0 win during doubles play.
Winternheimer and freshman Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) each have two victories to lead the Blue and Red in singles action this season. In doubles play, Winternheimer and Farrell are joined by Parker and sophomore Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) with 2-1 records.
Hanover's opponent of the weekend, Mount St. Joseph, sits at 2-6 on the season. In their last contest, the Lions lost both ends of a doubleheader, falling to Defiance (Ohio) and Shawnee State (Ohio) 7-2 and 8-1 respectively.
The Panthers have five straight regular season victories against the Lions dating back to 2011. Last season, Hanover registered a 9-0 victory that included two sweeps in singles competition and one in doubles.
Hanover's opponent Sunday, IUS, comes in at 1-0 on the year. In their previous contest against Kentucky Wesleyan, IUS won 8-1 behind sweeps from their No. 1 singles and doubles players.
The last time the Panthers faced the Grenadiers was during the 2015-16 campaign. Hanover won 6-3 in an effort that included victories in five-of-six singles matches. Winternheimer, who competed in the No. 2 singles spot, won by a score of 6-4, 6.2.
