CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Hanover women's tennis team stayed unbeaten in HCAC play Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount St. Joseph on the road, 9-0.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in conference action during the 2017-18 season. The victory also gives HC its 36th consecutive win in HCAC regular season matches.
Sophomore Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) failed to drop a single game Saturday, starting with an 8-0 doubles victory. Farrell teamed with junior Susie Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the No. 3 slot. The sophomore then went on to add a straight set, 6-0, 6-0, win in the top singles match.
Winterneheimer also competed in singles competition, winning the No. 2 draw by a count of 6-1, 6-1.
Overall, Hanover dropped just three singles games in six matches, with four players earning 6-0, 6-0 victories. Joining Farrell with shutouts in singles action were sophomore Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.)and freshmen Addison Laker (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.).
With the wins, both Laker and Katzenberger improve to 2-0 in singles competition. Jones goes to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in HCAC play after victory.
Jones and freshman Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) recorded an 8-1 decision in the No. 2 doubles match to start the day. Parker also went on to earn a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles action.
In the top doubles match, senior Alana Feeley (Colchester, Vt.) and sophomore Caroline Millard (Cincinnati, Ohio) registered an 8-1 victory. The duo improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
A year after earning nine shutout decisions, Hanover has two 9-0 victories already in 2017-18, with both coming in conference play.
The Panthers will break from HCAC play Sunday, Oct. 1, as they travel to face IU-Southeast. Hanover and IUS are slated for an 11 a.m. start time.
