Panthers look to stay unbeaten in HCAC play, host Transylvania and Manchester

HANOVER, Ind. - The Hanover women's tennis team will look to capture a pair of home victories this week as they host HCAC rivals Transylvania (Ky.) and Manchester (Ind.).

Hanover squares off against Transylvania at 4 p.m. this Thursday, October 4, before welcoming Manchester at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7.

The Panthers split a pair of road contests last weekend, defeating Mount St. Joseph in conference play Saturday, 9-0, but fell to IU-Southeast Sunday, 5-4. Sophomore Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) and freshman Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) teamed to go 2-0 in doubles play, while both also added a pair of singles victories.

In the No. 6 singles spot, freshman Mia Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.) improved to 3-0 on the season. During the two singles matches last week, Katzenberger dropped just two games over four sets.

For the season, Hanover sits at 3-2 overall with a 3-0 record versus HCAC opponents. With the unblemished conference record, the Panthers currently boast a 36-match conference regular season winning streak.

Transylvania will enter Wednesday 3-5 on the season. In their most recent contest, the Pioneers lost to HCAC foe Franklin, 6-3.

The Panthers have proven to be successful against Transylvania in recent years, as they have registered four straight wins against the Pioneers dating back to the 2013-14 season. In the most recent meeting last season, Hanover swept Transylvania, 9-0.

The Panthers' opponent on deck, Manchester, comes in at 3-3 on the season. In their last match, Manchester was defeated by Franklin, 7-2. Hanover has recorded six straight victories against the Spartans dating back to the 2011-12 season. In their most recent head-to-head, Hanover won 9-0 in a match that saw many impressive victories, including a sweep by sophomore Megan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the No. 3 singles match.
