ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Cami Jones (Richmond, Ind.) won at No. 1 singles against NCAA Division II Davenport (Mich.) Monday afternoon to highlight the Panthers' play in a 5-4 neutral-site loss at the USTA National Training Center.
Jones and sophomore Haley Parker (Leo, Ind.) nearly earned a doubles victory, falling 8-5 at No. 2, before the junior rallied to take the top singles contest in three sets. Jones dropped the opening set, 6-2, before winning sets two and three by scores of 7-6 and 8-6, respectively. Parker also earned a single's point for HC via retirement at No. 4.
Hanover's additional two team points came via default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Unfortunately for the Blue and Red, they fell in straight sets at Nos. 2, 3 and 5 singles, while also dropping the top doubles contest, 8-1.
Hanover (12-3) will look to bounce back Tuesday, Feb. 26, when the team closes out its Florida Winter Break Trip against Saint Mary's (Minn.). The Panthers and Cardinals are slated for a 6 p.m. start.
