Women's tennis concludes Florida trip against Saint Mary's (MN)

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Hanover women's tennis team concluded its Winter Break trip at the USTA National Training Center Tuesday afternoon, falling to St. Mary's (Minn.) by a score of 6-3.

Senior Ruth Gaston (Indianapolis, Ind.) earned two team points Tuesday, winning in both her singles and doubles matches. The senior, along with junior Lizzy Katzenberger (Crawfordsville, Ind.) won the lone doubles point for HC after taking the third spot by a count of 8-3. Gaston followed it up with a straight set, 6-3, 7-6 triumph at No. 5 singles.

Junior Meghan Farrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) added a 6-4, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles. Farrell and senior Susie Winternheimer (Indianapolis, Ind.) competed in the top doubles spot as well but fell 8-4.

The Cardinals (3-5) took two of the three doubles contests to take an early advantage over the Panthers (12-4). Saint Mary's followed with straight set wins in four-of-six singles games to secure the team victory.

Hanover will return to action at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 10, when the team hosts Centre (Ky.) at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
