INDIANAPOLIS – The Hanover women's track & field team closed out the opening month of the indoor season with strong performances at the Univ. of Indianapolis Tom Hathaway Distance Classic and Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational this past weekend.

Picking up her second win in as many weeks at Rose-Hulman was senior Erin Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind.). Trimpe won the pole vault with a height of 3.27m, which ties her season-best mark originally set last week. Joining Trimpe at the Engineer Invite was sophomore Emily Jones (Pendleton, Ind.), who placed third in the pole vault with a personal-record clearance of 2.97m.

Also competing on Friday, but at the UIndy-hosted meet, was junior Kenna Hunter (Mooresville, Ind.). Hunter appeared in the five-event, pentathlon, where she placed third out of six athletes. The junior was the lone NCAA Division III athlete, as the rest of the field consisted of participants from NCAA Division I, Division II and the NAIA.

Hunter improved her second-leading all-time mark at Hanover to 2,995 points. The junior placed second in three events, including the high jump and long jump where she set new personal records. In the high jump, she tallied a height of 1.56m, while the long jump saw her post a distance of 4.95m, which now ranks fourth all-time at HC.

In the weight throw Friday night at UIndy, sophomore Erin Browning (Greensburg, Ind.) led a trio of Panthers with an eighth-place finish. Browning cleared the 15-meter mark for the second time in three tries this season, logging a distance of 15.01m. Freshman Mariah Grider (North Vernon, Ind.) and senior Hannah Gregory (Columbus, Ind.) posted tosses of 12.77m and 10.91m, respectively, which led them each to top five showings in their heats. Grider's mark set a new personal record.

On the track, senior Morgan Hamilton (Connersville, Ind.) opened her two-day stretch in Indianapolis with the one mile run, where she clocked in at 5:48.75. The senior then placed 10th overall and second in her heat during the 800m run Saturday, with a time of 2:43.27.

Saturday saw Hunter and junior Michelle Witt (Carmel, Ind.) compete in the triple jump as well, where they both posted marks of 9.75m to place fifth. Senior Amanda Stump (Garrett, Ind.) ran the 3000m race in 11:44.96, placing seventh in her heat.

Hanover will return to action again next Saturday, Feb. 2, as the squad travels to compete in Ohio Northern's Joe Banks Invitational.
