Women's Track & Field to Compete as Split Squad

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover women's track and field team will compete as a split squad with half going to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Tom Hathaway Classic and the other half to Wittenberg. 

GRIDER ON TOP: Sophomore Mariah Grider (North Vernon, Ind.) opened the 2020 indoor season strong with a first-place mark in the weight throw with a distance of 14.13 meters. Junior Erin Browning (Greensburg, Ind.) took second in the event with a toss of 13.97 meters. The success carried into the shot put for Browning as she took second in the event with a mark of 10.59. 

LEADING THE CHARGE: On the track, sophomore Arig Tong (Columbus, Ind.) paced the way for the Blue and Red winning the 3,000-meter race in a time of 10:54.05. Teammate, sophomore Brianna Medcalf (Central, Ind.) followed her across the finish line with a time of 11:08.69.

TOM HATHAWAY CLASSIC: The Distance Classic is hosted in Indianapolis, Ind. and will feature 26 teams from various divisions to be held on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.

WITTENBERG: The Panthers will also see a split squad compete at the NCAC/OAC/HCAC Challenge hosted by Wittenberg University. Events begin at noon on Saturday, January 25 inside the Steemer Center. 

UP NEXT: Hanover returns to the track on Saturday, February 1 with a trip to Ada, Ohio for the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University.
