HANOVER, Ind. – The women's track and field team hit the road for the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University on Saturday, February 1.

RUNNING AHEAD OF THE PACK: The Panthers registered a strong meet as part of the NCAC/OAC/HCAC Challenge hosted by Wittenberg University this past weekend. Hanover saw seven student-athletes crack into the Panther all-time top 10 list.

Freshman Zaleeya Martin (Shelbyville, Ind.) led the charge moving into fifth all-time in the 60-meter dash, while also jumping to sixth all-time in the long jump. In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Brianna Medcalf (Central, Ind.) surged into fourth among the top 10 list with a time of 19:20.13.

Sophomore Jessica Beckman (Glenwood, Ind.) moved into seventh among the shot put all-time top 10 list with a toss of 10.54 meters, while teammates freshman Alijah Craig (Milan, Ind.), sophomore Makenzie Carroll (Richmond, Ky.), sophomore Sawyer Osmun (Fishers, Ind.), and senior Kenna Hunter (Mooresville, Ind.) climbed to seventh in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:16.82.

HUNTER In CHARGE: Senior Kenna Hunter also competed at the Tom Hathaway Classic this past weekend where she took second in the pentathlon with 3,011 points. The senior tallied a strong day earning 724 points in the high jump, while raking in 701 points in the 800-meter run and 672 points in the 60-meter hurdles.

TONG GOING THE DISTANCE: The busy weekend continued as sophomore Arig Tong (Columbus, Ind.) made the trek to Indianapolis for the Gladstein Invite. The sophomore competed as part of the 5,000-meter run where she finished seventh in a field littered with Division I athletes in a time of 18:52.44.

HISTORY BEHIND JOE BANKS: The Joe Banks Invitational is in honor of Ohio Northern University head track and field coach Mr. Joe Banks who served from 1919 to 2007. The event will feature 12 teams including HCAC institutions: Bluffton and Manchester. The meet is scheduled to begin with field events at 11 a.m. followed by track events at noon.

LAST YEAR IN ADA: The Panthers claimed a third-place finish last season as part of the Joe Banks Invite where they collected 86 points. Junior Erin Browning (Greensburg, Ind.) led the charge taking second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.54 meters, while also finishing seventh in the shot put. On the track, Tong proved to be a force taking second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:57.72.
