Panthers Head North for the Sommer Spiketacular

HANOVER, IND. – The Hanover College Volleyball team will make the weekend trek north to Bluffton, Ohio for the Sommer Spiketacular hosted by Bluffton University.

WEEKEND SLATE: The Panthers open the weekend with one match Friday evening, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., as they take on Geneva. Hanover will square off with nationally ranked Ohio Northern and Heidelberg Saturday, Sept. 7 at noon and 2 p.m., respectively.

FIVE SET THRLLIERS: The Panthers enter the weekend 3-1 overall after defeating Spalding on Tuesday evening in a five-set thriller. Hanover is no stranger to five set thrillers as three of their four matches this season have been decided by a fifth set. In the season opening weekend, the Blue and Red fell to Washington and Lee in five sets, before defeating tournament host Maryville 3-2 and Huntingdon in straight sets.

LEADING THE PANTHERS: Sophomore Emma Rolf (Lebanon, Ind.) leads the Panther attack with a team-high 40 kills, averaging 2.22 kills per set. Senior Carlie Burson (Corydon, Ind.) has also found success at the net with 37 kills and a .171 hitting percentage. Defensively, senior Ally Williams (Fountaintown, Ind.) has paced the way ranking third in the HCAC in digs with 80 and fifth in digs per set at 4.44.

UP NEXT: The Blue and Red return to action Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 as they host the Hanover Invitational. The Panthers will play host to Capital on Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on Trine and Adrian on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
