Hanover Set for Weekend Road Trip

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panther volleyball team will open the weekend with a trip to Spalding on Friday, Sept. 20 before traveling to DePauw on Saturday, Sept. 21 to face off with the Tigers and St. Mary's (Ind.).

WEEK REVIEW: The Blue and Red hosted the Hanover Invitational this past weekend where the Panthers went a perfect 3-0 sweeping the competition. On Friday the Panthers defeated Capital in straight sets, followed by a straight set victory on Saturday morning against Trine. In the team's final contest of the weekend with Adrian, the Panthers defeated the Bulldogs 3-1. Senior Carlie Burson (Corydon, Ind.) earned All-Invite Team honors for her efforts. The senior finished with 17 kills, averaging 1.70 kills per set. She also posted five blocks for the Blue and Red with two solo attempts.

INSIDE THE STATS: Senior Ally Williams currently leads the Panther defensive efforts as the libero has tallied a team-high 193 digs, ranking her fifth among the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The senior also sits third among the conference in digs per set at 4.95. On the attack, sophomore Emma Rolf (Lebanon, Ind.) leads the team with 99 kills, averaging 2.54 killd per set. She has tallied 14 blocks, with 12 block assists. Burson has tallied 70 kills this season, averaging 2.00 kills per set.

SPALDING: The Panthers and Golden Eagles square off for the second time this season with the Blue and Red winning the first meeting in five sets. Freshman Adrianne Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Panthers in the contest with 10 kills and three block assists. Spalding was led by Maddie Simmons with a team-high 15 kills and eight digs. As a team, the Golden Eagles combined for 43 kills and .024 hitting percentage.

DEPAUW: The Tigers enter the weekend matchup 6-4 overall after defeating Alma in straight sets. DePauw is led this season by Morgan Stearley with a team-high 119 kills, averaging 3.61 kills per set. The senior also leads the team in digs with 101 and digs per set at 3.06.

ST. MARY (Ind.) – The Belles enter the weekend at 5-5 overall after falling to Wheaton 3-0. St. Mary opens the weekend trip to DePauw with a contest against Muskingum. The Belles are led this season by Nicole Lukens with a team-high 117 kills. She is currently averaging 3.16 kills per set while hitting .189. Megan Collantes leads the defensive efforts with a team best 150 digs and 4.05 digs per set.
