HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover College volleyball team returns to Collier Arena for their final tune-up with St. Mary's-Woods before their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers enter the contest with a two-game win streak defeating Centre, 3-0 and Wilmington, 3-0.
WEEK REVIEW: In the team's contest with Centre, sophomore Emma Rolf (Lebanon, Ind.) paced the attack with a team-high 12 kills. She also finished the day with 12 digs. Defensively, sophomore Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) led the way with 17 digs and a team-high 27 assists. As a team, the Panthers had 42 kills against the Colonels, while hitting .203.
The team carried the momentum into Friday's match-up with the Quakers as they swept Wilmington in straight sets. Leading the way for the Blue and Red was freshman Adrianna Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.) with 11 kills and a .235 hitting percentage. The Panthers saw five players record double-digit digs paced by junior Amber Miller (Louisville, Ky.) with 15.
INSIDE THE STATS: As a team, the Panthers have competed in 15 matches and 57 sets. They have tallied 645 kills for a .163 hitting percentage. Senior Ally Williams (Fountaintown, Ind.) is leading the Panthers this season ranking third among the league in digs per set at 5.28, while ranking fifth in total digs at 301. Rolf has piloted the attacked this season with a team-high 144 kills, averaging 2.53 kills per set, while teammate Ketcham has dished out 350 assists.
SCOUTING ST. MARY-WOODS: The Pomeroys are led this season by Mandi Alspach with 126 kills, averaging 2.38 kills per set. On the defensive side of the ball, Pamela Dorman has paced the way with a team-high 276 digs, with 5.21 digs per set. As a unit, St. Mary-Woods has played in 16 matches with 56 sets and 552 kills. The team is averaging 9.86 kills per set, while hitting .156.
