HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover volleyball team has released its 2020 schedule with the season opener slated for September 1.
Under the guidance of head coach Peter Preocanin the Panthers will look to make a strong push for the 2020 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title after finishing 18-11 overall, 7-2 in the HCAC a season ago.
The season will open with a trip to Danville, Ky. as they take on the Colonels of Centre before competing in a pair of Invitationals. The first will feature a trip to Maryville (Tenn.) on Sept. 4-5 where the Blue and Red will compete against Union (Ky.), Maryville (Tenn.), and Greensboro.
The Panthers then head north to Bluffton, Ohio on Sept. 11-12 for the Sommer Center Spiketacular. The Spiketacular will feature contests with Geneva, Heidelberg, and Ohio Northern. The Panthers and Student Prince's match-up for the third consecutive season with Heidelberg holding the slim 2-1 series lead.
On Sept. 15, Hanover takes on non-conference foe Midway before welcoming Wilmington on Sept. 18 for the Panther Invitational. The weekend will also feature matchups with Trine on Sept. 19 as well as Berea.
The Blue and Red then hit the road on Sept. 23 to take on the Golden Eagles of Spalding University. The Panthers currently hold a 10-game win streak over the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2010 season. Spalding's last victory came at home by way of a 3-2 decision.
They then head to Westerville, Ohio for the Pam Briggs Classic taking on Otterbein on Sept. 25 as well as Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Capital. The weekend rounds out with a trip to Delaware, Ohio taking on Baldwin Wallace and Ohio Wesleyan.
The month of October opens with a visit from Eureka on the 2nd before opening Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Oct. 3 with Defiance.
Hanover will wrap up the season with HCAC foe Anderson on Saturday, Oct. 31 with the opening round of the HCAC Tournament slated for Nov. 11.
