LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior Morgan Hamilton (Centerville, Ind.) set a new personal best as the Hanover women's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers, who scored 594 points to place 24th overall, had two runners finish among the top 100 finishers in a strong field of 265 competitors. Hamilton ran a time of 20:45.79 in the Silver Race to better her previous best time of 21:19.7 in October of 2015 at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic. She finished 69th overall.
Sophomore Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) ran the second best 5k time of her young career. Barlow placed 91st overall with a time of 21:01.03 to finish as the second Hanover runner across the line for the third straight meet.
Sophomore Caitlyn Naghdi (Carmel, Ind.) placed 169th overall with a time of 22:05.82, while junior Amanda Stump (Garrett, Ind.) and sophomore Adriana Conway (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out the top five. Naghdi finished in 22:17.94 for 176th overall, and Conway broke into the Panthers top five for the first time this fall with a 230th place finish (24:07.35) in the race run in her hometown.
The IN Running Club won the Women's Other Division team crown with a score of 37 with three runners finishing in the top five. Indiana Tech was second with 128 points, followed by Point Park (Pa.) in third with 145 points.
Vincennes' Anais Da Silva took home the individual title. The sophomore ran the 5k race in 18:34.22 to win by more than a second.
Hanover will return to action Friday, Oct. 13 with the Jenna Strong Wilmington Fall Classic. The meet is set for a 5 p.m. start in Wilmington, Ohio.
