Hanover women to open season at home

HANOVER, Ind. -- The Hanover College women's cross country team will open its season with a home invitational. The meet will be held Saturday, September 1, at Hanover College and feature teams from IU-East, Transylvania University, IUPUC, and a team made up of former Hanover alum.

Boasting a mix of incoming talent and returning veteran savvy, the Panthers will look to improve on their second place finish from a year ago.

The red and blue will likely to be led by freshman standouts Arig Tong (Columbus, Ind.) and Brianna Medcalf (Central, Ind.) alongside the upperclassmen duo of junior Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) and senior Morgan Hamilton (Centerville, Ind.).

Hamilton finished fifth overall in last year's event with a time of 22:42.4 while Barlow was sixth in a time of 22:59.5.

The Panthers will look to two other freshmen—Zoe Adams (Louisville, Ky.) and Sawyer Osmun (Fishers, Ind.) to help round out their scoring.

IU-East won last year's event with a low score of 24 points. The Red Wolves return the overall champion in Junior Ashley Toschlong.

The event is set to take place at 10:00 a.m.
