HANOVER, Ind. – Behind a late first half goal, the Hanover men's soccer team defeated Earlham College on the road Wednesday evening, 1-0.

Despite a 9-3 edge in shots over the first 30 minutes of play, the Panthers were still in a scoreless tie with Quakers (2-11-1, 2-3-1 HCAC). In the 35th minute, sophomore Brady Gesenhues (Fort Thomas, Ky.) broke the stalemate with a header.

Freshman Ethan Miller (Breaux Bridge, La.) sent a cross from the near side into the box where Gesenhues found the back on the net near the far post.

Hanover added two more shots over the final 10 minutes of the first half, but took its 1-0 advantage into the intermission. The Blue and Red enjoyed a 12-3 edge in shots during the first 45 minutes of play, while finishing the contest with a 20-5 advantage.

Six different Panthers (10-4-0, 5-1-0 HCAC) posted multiple shots in the match, including freshman Renato Yostsui (Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, Brazil), who led the squad with six. Seniors Michael Dumaine (California, Ky.) and Dominic Isadore (Cincinnati, Ohio) added two shots apiece, while also combining for four tries on goal.

Freshman Will Bedel (Walton, Ky.) was called on to make just two saves in the contest, both in the second half, as he earned his 10th victory of the season and his fourth individual clean sheet.

The Panthers will look for their third consecutive win and sixth victory in seven conference matches when they host Defiance (Ohio) for a 3:30 p.m. first kick Saturday, Oct. 21.
