Isadore leads Panthers to victory on Senior Day

Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – Led by senior Dominic Isadore (Cincinnati, Ohio), the Hanover men's soccer team picked up a 3-2 victory over Defiance, on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (11-4-0, 6-1-0 HCAC) struck quickly, as Isadore scored the first of his two goals in the fifth minute. The senior headed in a cross off a free kick from classmate Zach Barnes (Seymour, Ind.) at the 4:52 mark of the opening half.

The Yellow Jackets (6-8-2, 2-5-0 HCAC) found the equalizer near the end of a physical first half with a goal from 25 yards out in the 42nd minute.

Hanover held an 8-3 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes of play, while finishing the contest with a 17-10 edge. The first half also saw the two sides combine for 13 fouls, with each team also garnering one yellow card.

Out of the intermission, the Panthers scored twice in the first five minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Freshman Chris Pitre (Belle Chasse, La.) scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 47th minute, as he headed in a corner kick from classmate Ian Waldrop (Louisville, Ky.). Isadore added what would prove to be the game-winning goal on a penalty kick two minutes later.

Defiance scored its second goal from distance at the 64:54 mark, closing the deficit to one goal, 3-2. The Yellow Jackets looked to tie the contest again with close to 15 minutes play, as they recorded four shots in a 45 second span.

Freshman net minder Will Bedel (Walton, Ky.) made one save during the stretch, while the other three attempts hit the post, went high and was saved by a HC defender. Bedel also turned away DC's final try in the 89th minute to help secure the victory.

Isadore led the team with six shot attempts, while also putting a team-best three on goal. Senior Will Bridegeman (Columbus, Ind.) and freshman Nicholas Ash (Louisville, Ky.) added multiple shot attempts as well.

Hanover, who has won three straight and six of its last seven overall, will look to keep pace atop the HCAC standings when the team hosts Mount St. Joseph at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25.
