Offensive outburst continues in Hanover's win over Anderson

Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's soccer team logged a season high 31 shot attempts en route to a 5-1 win victory over Anderson Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (8-3-0, 3-0-0 HCAC) enjoyed a 31-17 edge in shots attempts, posting 30 or more for the first time since Oct. 21, 2015.

Leading the offensive charge for the second straight match was senior Dominic Isadore (Cincinnati, Ohio), who registered one goal and one assist, while tying for the team high in shots with five. Isadore finished the week with four goals and one assist after a hat trick at Franklin this past Wednesday.

Freshman Brad Simpson (Allen, Texas) also logged five shots, while senior Ryan Keeney (Rineyville, Ky.) added four attempts. Simpson was one of five Panthers to record a goal Saturday, as the Panthers posted five scores in their second straight contest.

Adding to his team high season goal total was junior Tanner Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio), who's seventh score in 2017 gave HC a 2-0 advantage in the 25th minute. Freshman Ian Waldrop (Louisville, Ky.) got the scoring started early, posting his second goal of the season at the 1:29 mark of the first half.

Junior Dean Mock (Louisville, Ky.) added HC's third goal of the first half in the 35th minute, as he scored on a rebound from a Keeney shot attempt. Hanover led 3-0 at the intermission, while enjoying a 15-7 edge in shots.

After the Ravens tallied their lone goal at 51:28, Isadore and Simpson denied any hopes of a comeback attempt with scores in the 71st and 83rd minutes respectively.

In net, freshman Will Bedel (Walton, Ky.) earned his eighth win of the season. Bedel made two saves out of AU's three shots on goal.

Hanover has now won in each of its last three appearances and are also winners in seven of their last eight overall. Offense has been key during the eight-match span, as the Blue and Red have scored at least four goals in four contests.

The Panthers will look to carry their offensive momentum into another HCAC match Wednesday, Oct. 11. Hanover will host Transylvania (Ky.) for its next contest, with the match scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
