Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover women's basketball team hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action taking on Anderson. The Panthers used a fourth quarter rally to secure the 82-74 victory.
Hanover was paced in the contest by freshman
Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) with a game-high 25 points and eight rebounds. Freshman
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) added 15 points, while freshman
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) turned in 13 points.
The Panthers got a sluggish start to open the contest when a Benter three-pointer and a senior
Liz Tynan (Columbus, Ind.) layup pulled HC back within 21-16. They continued to chip at the lead in the second stanza as a sophomore
Addie Gardner (Anderson, Ind.) jumper pushed Hanover in front 22-21 with 7:21 to play.
The offense continued to click as Benter and Tynan provided the one two punch once more that helped propel HC to the 36-31 advantage. However, the Ravens came soaring back knotting the contest at halftime, 36-36.
The back-an-forth battle carried into the second half as Hanover was able to push the lead to as many as five points in the third frame following a junior
Keaton Chastain (Paoli, Ind.) layup as time expired, 58-53.
Neither team would give an edge in the final quarter as Anderson tied the game 58-58 when Hanover responded with a short run capped off by a Heath jumper to send HC in front 74-63.
The Panthers never looked back winning the HCAC contest 82-74.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 29 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. taking on Wittenberg. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
