Panthers earn split with Spalding

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hanover earned a split with Spalding dropping game one 2-1 before taking game two in convincing fashion, 15-4.

GAME ONE
Spalding charted the game's first run in the bottom of the third inning following an RBI single to left field, 1-0.

They would plate one more run in the top of the fifth inning before the Panthers responded. Sophomore Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, ind.) delivered the one run blow as she hit a double to center field that scored sophomore Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.), 2-1. However, the Eagles were able to retire the side and hang on for the game one victory.

GAME TWO
The Panthers scored early and often in game two as Hutchison provided the first dagger with an RBI double to left field that scored Bradley, 1-0.

The second inning would see Hanover plate five more runs. Senior Mackenzie Smith (Jeffersonville, Ind.) plated the first run as she drew a walk that scored junior Kiley Shedron (Cloverdale, Ind.) and advanced runners to scoring position. Bradley dealt clutch at the plate as she hit a single to left field scoring another Panther run. Hutchison continued the rally as she hit a shot to left center scoring both Smith and senior Rachel Cox (Indianapolis, Ind.) before senior Brittney Ralston (Lexington, Ind.) plated the innings final run, 6-0.

Spalding responded cutting the deficit to 6-4 when Hanover blew the game wide open. Hutchison continued her impressive evening at the dish as she delivered a blow in the fourth inning that resulted in a Panther 9-4 lead.

The top of the fifth inning saw the Blue and Red extend the difference as Shedron hit a deep shot to right center scoring three more runs before Bradley sealed the deal en route to the 15-4 victory.

Hanover returns to action on Sunday, March 28 when they travel to northwest Ohio to take on Bluffton. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
