LEXINGTON, Ind. – The Hanover softball team dropped a pair of contests at Transylvania on Thursday afternoon. Hanover fell in the opener 5-1 before dropping the night cap 7-0.
GAME ONE
The Panther offense attacked early as a single by junior
Kendra Hutchison (Lafayette, Ind.) scored sophomore
Kensie Bradley (Greenfield, Ind.) for the 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.
However, the Pioneers responded in the bottom of the third inning as they were able to plate two runs to swing the score in their favor, 2-1.
They tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning before adding one in the sixth inning for the 5-1 victory.
Senior
Lily Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) got the start in the circle pitching a complete game with five strikeouts.
GAME TWO
Transylvania surged ahead early as they plated a series of runs in the second inning for the 3-0 lead.
The Pioneers tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third inning before adding one run in the fourth inning for the 6-0 advantage. The final run of the contest came in the sixth inning as Transylvania captured the sweep, 7-0.
Hanover was led in the game by senior
Mackenzie Smith (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and sophomore
Katherine Dickinson (Francisco, Ind.) with one hit apiece.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday when they welcome Franklin for a 1:00 PM pitch. The Panthers need one victory to secure a spot in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
