Hanover tops ONU in rainy 1-0 victory

Box Score ADA, Ohio -  In what quickly became a very entertaining battle on a rainy Wednesday evening in Ada, Ohio, the Panthers reigned victorious. Senior Fellipe Busato (Sao Paulo, Brazil) lifted the Blue and Red, who moved to 4-3-1 overall on the year, to victory 1-0.

The first half saw sophomore Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) pace the attack as he fired two first half strikes, including one in the 33rd minute that was saved by the Polar Bear goalkeeper.

The two clubs continued to jockey for position as ONU got the final first half attempt that fell to the hands of the Panther goalkeeper, sophomore Luciano Salemi (Indianapolis, Ind.).

Hanover opened the second half attacking the goal early as senior Josh Hughes (Lafayette, La.) looked to net a corner kick from Ochsner that missed just high. Busato got a chance mid frame as he landed a shot on goal that was saved by the ONU keeper.

The Panthers broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute as Ochsner sent a ball into the box off a corner kick that Busato was able to hammer home.

The Blue and Red finished the non-conference contest with 14 shots, seven of which landed on frame.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Earlham. Game time is slated for 3:30 PM.
