SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Hanover women's basketball team (2-2 overall) took on non-conference foe Wittenberg on Sunday afternoon, falling in the contest 74-55.
Hanover was paced by senior
Callie Wilder (North Vernon, Ind.) with a team best 19 points while junior
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) and junior
Addie Gardner (Anderson, Ind.) added 10 points each.
The opening frame saw Wittenberg surge ahead early when the Panthers came storming back paced by Gardner from deep. However, the momentum didn't last long as Wittenberg entered into the second quarter with the double-digit advantage.
Heath looked to cut the difference as she sank a pair of free throws pulling HC within 34-28 at the 4:30 mark. The Tigers refused to give Hanover the lead as they entered the intermission leading 43-28.
The second half saw Wittenberg continue their offensive domination leading by as many as 15 points in the third quarter. They would go on to win the contest 74-55 after holding Hanover to just 10 points in the final frame.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 27 when they compete at Centre. Tip-off is set for 2:0 PM.
