Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – An early shooting slump doomed costly for the Panthers (6-3 overall) as they dropped a non-conference contest with Loras College on Monday afternoon. Hanover fell to the Duhawks 73-31.
Leading the charge for Hanover was sophomore
Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) with a team-high six points and six rebounds.
Loras stifled the Panther offense for much of the first half when a pair of junior
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) free-throws halted the Duhawks pressure. Sophomore
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) closed out the scoring for the Blue and Red as she sank a free-throw with just seconds remaining. Hanover entered the intermission looking to crank-up the offense in the second half.
They would do just that as Hanover began to chip at the differential getting a layup from Bezold before a junior
Skylar Sahatjian (Prospect, Ky.) jumper and a senior
Callie Wilder (North Vernon, Ind.) free-throw sent HC into the final frame trailing 58-18.
The final quarter of action would see freshman
Kaitlyn Lorenzi (Brentwood, Tenn.) connect for the Panthers only three-pointer as they fell to the Duhawks of Loras College, 73-31.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when they take on nationally ranked Babson as part of the Cruzin' Classic. Tip-off is set for 12:00 PM.
