Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover Panthers dropped a tough road contest on Tuesday evening at nationally ranked Transylvania, 77-54.
The Panthers were led in the contest by freshman
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) with a team-high 11 points, while teammate freshman
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) added eight points.
Hanover dominated the opening minutes using their aggressive nature rebounding to capture the 10-7 advantage. However, the Pioneers countered with a 17-2 run to surge ahead 24-12.
Transylvania carried the momentum into the second frame extending the difference before back-to-back blows by Bezold and Heath halted the attack. But it wasn't enough as the Pioneer offense remained efficient in rout to the 50-26 halftime lead.
Benter turned in a strong second half for the Blue and Red as she hit a series of three-pointers to cut the deficit to 66-36. She finished with 11 second half points as the Panthers dropped the HCAC contest.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Feb. 18 when they welcome Mt. St. Joseph for Senior Night. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
