HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers ran past the Quakers on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action, winning the contest 76-61.
The Blue and Red saw three players finish in double figures led by freshman
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) with a game-high 15 points. Teammate, freshman
Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) added 12 points while freshman
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) chipped in 11 points.
Hanover dominated the opening frame out scoring Earlham 23-11 paced by Heath with a bucket at the 2:04 mark giving HC a double-digit advantage. Benter helped push the difference to 14 points with a fastbreak jumper before the Quakers responded.
EC was able to pull within 38-29 when a senior
Liz Tynan (Columbus, Ind.) runner in the lane sent the Panthers into the break with the 40-30 edge.
After cutting the deficit to eight points, Bezold stepped-up sinking a pair of back-to-back scores that extended the Panther lead to 49-36. Hanover led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter.
The rest was history as Hanover claimed the convincing 76-61 HCAC victory.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 9 when they welcome Franklin. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
