Kruse dominates at the plate as Panthers split with Asbury

HANOVER, Ind. – Freshman Carson Kruse (Fort Branch, Ind.) connected on a three-run homer in game two of a doubleheader with Asbury to lift the Panthers to a non-conference split. Asbury claimed game one 7-3 while Hanover won the nightcap 8-3.

GAME ONE
The Eagles soared ahead quickly in game one using a three run third inning and a one run fourth inning to capture the 4-0 advantage.

Asbury tacked on three more runs in the sixth before Hanover responded in the bottom half of the inning. Freshman Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the charge as she reached on an Eagle miscue that scored junior Kendra Hutchinson (Lafayette, Ind.). Sophomore Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio) provided the final pair of RBI with a single to left center that pulled HC within 7-3.

However, the Eagles deemed too much in game one scoring seven runs on nine hits in the victory.

GAME TWO
Senior Lily (Compton) Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) got the call for the Blue and Red surrendering two runs in the opening frame. Her teammates picked her up in the bottom half of the inning with Kruse providing the bomb. The first year delivered a homerun ball to left center that plated three Panther runners, 3-2.

Hanover continued to pounce, posting another three run spot in the bottom of the third inning with Kruse again deeming clutch off a double to center field, 4-3. The Panthers never looked back with junior Katherine Dickinson (Francisco, Ind.) and Kruse both picking up late game RBI in rout to the victory.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 19 when they compete as part of the Pioneer Classic hosted in Elizabethtown, Ky.
