LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover Panthers bowed out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament falling to Mount St. Joseph 4-1 and no. 1 seed Transylvania 4-1.
GAME ONE
After falling behind three runs, the Blue and Red looked to respond as junior
Lexi Garloch (Salem, Ind.) laid down a sacrifice bunt that score freshman
Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio), 3-1.
However, the lions refused to be tamed as they added another run in the top of the seventh inning in rout to the win.
Senior
Lily (Compton) Beurman (Evansville, Ind.) got the start in the circle pitching a complete game with five strikeouts.
GAME TWO
The Panthers took on Transylvania for the second time in the tournament, after defeating the host on Friday afternoon.
The Blue and Red surged ahead early as freshman
Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) provided the clutch RBI in the bottom of the second inning, 1-0.
But the excitement didn't last long as the Pioneers came storming back scoring four runs over the next five innings, including two runs in the fifth, to claim the victory.
The Panthers conclude their season at 17-19 overall.
