MADISON, Ind. – The no. 18 ranked Hanover men's soccer team (2-0-0 overall) welcomed Berea on Saturday afternoon defeating the Mountaineers 3-2.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Sean Fleming (Louisville, Ky.) who netted the game winning goal midway through the second frame.
The Blue and Red wasted little time finding the back of the net as sophomore Joao Lucas Domenici (Alphaville, Brazil) provided the first blow at the three minute mark, 1-0.
Hanover dealt its second goal of the afternoon at the 18:38 mark as senior
Fernando Martin (Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, Brazil) connected with freshman
Alex Farias (Louisville, Ky.) to push the difference to 2-0.
However, Berea broke through the Panthers defensive front with just under 10 minutes remaining in the opening frame to cut the difference to 2-1.
Berea tied the contest in the 65
th minute as a deep ball over the Panther backline found the back of the net, 2-2.
The Panthers continued to surge as time winded down in the second half with Fleming leading the charge. The senior took a pass from junior
Scott Zehnder (Louisville, Ky.) for the game winning goal.
Hanover returns to action Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for the OWU Tournament. They will open play with Calvin at 5:00 PM.
