Box Score ANDERSON, Ind. – The Panthers (12-6 overall, 11-2 HCAC) hit the road for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up on Wednesday evening, falling to the Ravens 91-62.
Hanover finished the game with three in double figures, led by junior
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) with a team-high 15 points. Sophomore
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) added 14 points and nine rebounds while senior
Callie Wilder (North Vernon, Ind.) netted 10 points.
In a first half that appeared to be very evenly matched, the Panther offense looked to set the tone. Benter led the surge as she netted a three-pointer before a junior
Reese Sexton (Louisville, Ky.) jumper gave HC the slim 13-11 advantage. However, Anderson continued to keep pace flipping the script, 17-15.
The momentum carried into the second frame as they claimed the 26-19 difference before a pair of senior
Anna Bauer (Indianapolis, Ind.) free-throws halted the Ravens. The Bauer offensive outburst ensued as she was able to connect in the paint following a Bezold assist. Anderson had other things in mind as they used a 10-0 run to enter the intermission leading 44-29.
The second half saw Anderson extend the difference when Heath navigated the Raven defense for a jumper in the lane. However, the Panther offense went cold as Anderson strung together another significant push to take the 73-48 third quarter lead.
Hanover closed out the contest strong netting 10 straight points capped by a Bezold layup to cut the difference to 73-58. Despite a late Panther battle, the Blue and Red ultimately surrendered the HCAC contest.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they take on Earlham. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 PM.
