LEXINGTON, Ky. – The no. 5 seed Hanover Panthers (15-24 overall) opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament action on Thursday morning, falling to no. 4 seed Manchester 1-0.
 
Sophomore Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start in the circle pitching a complete game surrendering just one run on four hits.
 
After a scoreless three innings, Hanover looked to draw first blood as sophomore Dani Steward (Shelbyville, Ind.) reached on a fielders choice before Beaman singled to left field placing a runner in scoring position. Sophomore Mallorie Fultz (Greenfield, Ind.) would push the runners to second and third after a slow roller to first base. However, the Spartans were able to retire the side, 0-0.
 
With the team's deadlocked at 0-0 Manchester pushed across what would become the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning after an RBI to left center.
 
The Panthers tallied a game-high five hits paced by freshman Sydnie Raisor (Cambellsburg, Ky.) with two.
 
Hanover returns to action on Friday, May 12 at 10:00 AM as part of an elimination game in the HCAC Tournament.
