Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover (3-4-0 overall) men's soccer team used a second half outburst en route to a 2-1 non-conference win on Monday evening over Wabash.
The Panther offense played a very methodical game getting pressure on the Wabash backline in the opening half. Despite only two first half shots, Hanover charted a game best six corners that ultimately fell empty handed.
The second half would see the Blue and Red crank up the intensity as senior
Xander Ochsner (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) was able to get a solid look at frame that missed just left.
However, Hanover connected for their first punch in the 54
th minute as sophomore
Omar Dizdar (Bardstown, Ky.) drew a penalty kick that he deposited bottom left, 1-0.
Wabash looked to find the equalizer as they were able to get a PK in the 59
th minute but senior keeper
Luciano Salemi (Indianapolis, Ind. )came up huge denying the Little Giant attempt.
However, the game tying goal came in the 75
th minute as the Little Giants fired a deep ball from just south of midfield.
Hanover dealt the game winning punch in the 86
th minute with Dizdar sending a cross that found freshman
Louan Seveno (Vannes, France) for the go-ahead goal, 2-1.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 23 when they host Otterbein. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
