Box Score DEFIANCE, Ohio – Hanover (16-7 overall, 14-2 HCAC) dominated Defiance from the opening tip-off in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action, winning the contest 86-31.
Hanover was led in the contest by junior
Kady Clancy (Scottsburg, Ind.) with a game-high 14 points. Sophomore
Lily Ernstes (North Vernon, Ind.) added 13 points while freshman
Sammy Berman (Independence, Ky.) netted 10 points. Senior
Taylor Heath (Fairland, Ind.) dished out eight assists.
Hanover opened the contest on a 14-0 run paced by Heath and sophomore
Kylah Lawson (Columbus, Ind.). The Panthers continued to pounce as sophomore
Kaitlyn Lorenzi (Brentwood, Tenn.) connected from three-point to blow the contest wide open, 18-4. Hanover pushed the lead to 25-5 early in the second frame before a Ernstes layup and back-to-back Heath runners in the lane propelled HC to a 10-0 run. The Panthers entered the intermission leading 51-15.
With all the momentum, Clancy added back-to-back blows in the third frame that saw them capture a commanding advantage. Hanover went on to outscore the Yellow Jackets 17-8 en route to the 68-23 third quarter difference.
The Panthers finished with 11 in scoring figures as they defeated Defiance with ease on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 13 when they travel to Anderson. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
