HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers are set to tip-off the 2023-24 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, Feb. 23 in Lexington, Ky. and the Beck Center.
IN THE HCAC TOURNAMENT
Hanover reaches the Tournament for the eighth straight season looking for their second consecutive HCAC Championship appearance. The Panthers secured the no. 2 seed after posting a 16-2 HCAC mark, including defeating Mount St. Joseph as part of the regular season finale, 63-55.
The Pioneers of Transylvania claimed the top spot and the right to host after finishing 18-0 in conference play. The Pioneers take on no. 4 seed Franklin on Friday at 5:00 PM followed by the Panthers and the no. 3 seed Lions of Mount St. Joseph at 7:00 PM.
LAST MEETING
The Lions and Panthers meet for the third time this season with Hanover winner of the previous two meetings. In the last Cat clash, freshman
Sammy Berman (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Blue and Red with a team-high 18 points while junior
Katherine Benter (Brownstown, Ind.) netted 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Hanover enters the contest averaging 73.0 points per game and 40.5 rebounds per outing. The Panthers rank third among the HCAC in points allowed per game (60.3) and second in margin of victory at 12.8.
TO THE FUTURE
The HCAC Tournament is slated to wrap-up this weekend with the semifinals on Friday followed by the finals on Saturday at 6:00 PM. The winner of the Championship will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
