Comer nets career-high; Hanover celebrates Senior Day with win

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (5-9 overall, 2-3 HCLC) ended their regular season on a high note defeating area rival Franklin on Saturday afternoon, 12-8.
 
SENIOR DAY
Hanover celebrated seven Seniors prior to the contest – Taylor McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.), Masi McNally-Henriksen (Zionsville, Ind.), Maggie Donovan (Zionsville, Ind.), Dani Johnson (Terre Haute, Ind.), Mya Urba (Westfield, Ind.), Hannah Trotter (Richmind, Ind.), and Abby Boyt 9Seymour, Ind.). Under the leadership of head coach Brandon Allwood the team produced a 20-31 overall mark earning an HCLC appearance in each of the four seasons.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Junior Katie Comer (Indianapolis, Ind.) paced the Panther attack with a career-high six goals on eight shot attempts. Senior Taylor McNally-Henriksen added a hat trick on eight attempts.
 
In frame, freshman Emma Williams (Crestwood, Ky.) claimed the win as she tallied eight saves through 58 minutes of action.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The two team's battled for much of the first frame as a Panther goal with 22 seconds remaining, from the stick of Comer, pulled HC within 3-2.
 
The second quarter would see Hanover claim their first lead of the afternoon following back-to-back blows by Comer, 5-4. However, Franklin refused to let the Panthers gain momentum as they tied the score at the half, 5-5.
 
The Panthers erupted in the second half netting three straight goals, capped by senior Taylor McNally-Henriksen 9Zionsville, Ind.) for the 8-6 lead.
 
Once again Franklin responded as they cut the difference to 9-8.
 
But Hanover got the final say sophomore Abby Mensing (Parker, Co.) leading the charge. The sophomore helped guide Hanover to the 12-8 victory.
