Box Score Hanover, IN (Collier Arena) - The Panthers hosted conference rival Transylvania University tonight in both teams fifth conference match-up of the 2024-25 season. HC came into tonight's contest at 10-2 overall and a conference record of 4-1, while the Pioneers sat at 7-5 overall despite also having a 4-1 HCAC record.
The first two quaters were favorable for the red, white, and blue as they were able to outscore the Pios 21-13 through the first quarter to start the game.
The second quarter was much more of a battle for HC, but despite being outpaced 21-14 in the second, the Panthers were able to maintain a one point lead at 35-34 heading into the break. Hanover was lead by senior forward
Grace Bezold and her 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal in the first-half.
To start the second-half, Transy opened with a 5-2 run taking the lead at 39-37. A few minutes later,
Grace Bezold had back-to-back steals and a lay-up to tie things up at 41-41 with 4:51 still left in the third. The quarter would go on to end tied at 48-48.
In the fourth, the Pios jumped out to a quick ten-point lead, looking to be in control of the pace down the stretch. Sophomore guard
Sammy Berman was able to come away with a steal, and convert a three-pointer down on the other end the next possession, cutting the Pio lead dwon to five with 2:50 left to go.Â
Ultimately the Panthers fell, 73-65 to the Pioneers, dropping to 4-2 in the HCAC and 10-3 on the season. HC looks to bounce back in their next game, on Saturday January 11th, as they host HCAC opponent Earlham College at 1:00PM in Collier Arena.
