Berea, KY - Today, the men's soccer team took to the road and traveled to Berea College to take on the 1-8-3 (0-4-1) Mountaineers in a conference match-up.
The Panthers did what they've done best this season and out shot their opponent by a wide margin, pacing the Mountaineers nineteen to two in total shots, with six on frame. The one Mountaineer shot that came on frame was saved by senior goalkeeper
Rodrigo Gutierrez Olvera Gonzalez. Hanover also lead Berea in corners at six to one, and fouls drawn at fifteen to five.
HC out classed BU from start to finish with their ability to posses the ball by stringing together passes, and their unrelenting pace of play up and down the field. Hanover took the contest 2-0, and moved to 10-2-2 on the year with an HCAC best 5-0-0 conference record.
The goal scores for the Panthers were sophomore forward
Andrew Pavlisko and senior forward
Patricio Campos. Pavlisko scored in the twenty-first minute, unassisted, to put the Panthers up one-nil. Campos scored off a PK in the sixtieth minute of action, locking in the 2-0 for the boys.
Hanover's senior goalkeeper
Rodrigo Gutierrez Olvera Gonzalez minded the net for all ninety minutes, while the field was lead by junior defender
Andrew Beck and freshman defender
David Betz with over seventy minutes each .
Hanover now sits a-top the HCAC at 10-2-2 overall and 5-0-0 in conference match-ups, outscoring HCAC opponents 22-3 [through five games].
The Panthers return to action in a quick turn-around as the head to Indiana Universtiy on Friday to take on the #6 Indiana Hoosiers (Division I - Bloomington, IN). Kick-off is set for 7:00PM EST in Bill Armstrong Stadium on IU's campus.
