Box Score Hanover, IN - The Panthers hosted the Rose-Hulman University Fightin' Engineers in an HCAC match-up this afternoon. Hanover was coming off a 6-0 victory over their last HCAC opponent and sat at 6-2-2 (1-0-0 in HCAC) while Rose sat 5-2-2 with a 1-1 tie in their last HCAC outing.
Hanover played the field position and possession battles well early on, defending with energy and pacing the offensive approach. In the twentieth-minute of action Hanover was able to gain the advantage in the defensive box of the Fightin' Engineers and draw a foul leading to a penalty kick.
Senior forward
Patricio Campos took and buried the PK putting the Panthers up 1-0, allowing the Panthers to now play a touch slower and manage possessions more conservatively.
The rest of the first-half consisted of Hanover pacing Rose in shots (4-2), shots on goal (3-0), and corners (4-3), while also playing disruptive defense leaving the Fightin' Engineers frustrated heading into the break down one-nil.
In the second-half, the Panthers continued to dominate defensively, not giving an inch to their opponent. Rose-Hulman was able to put up five shots in the second half, four of which landed on frame but senior goalkeeper
Rodrigo Gutierrez Olvera Gonzalez saved all four, finishing with four saves.
As the game neared it's end, sophomore forward
Andrew Pavlisko sealed the deal as he put one past the keeper on the backside, coming off a beautiful assist from senior midfielder
Matt Burchett.
HC moves to 2-0-0 in the HCAC ahead of their match-up at Mt. St. Joseph this Wednesday, October 7th. Kick-off is set for 7:00PM EST.
