Panthers Bow Out In HCAC Finals

Lexington, KY - The Hanover College men's soccer team played in the HCAC Championship on Saturday, at Transylvania University against the number one seeded Pioneers.

Panthers were the number two seed heading into the finals match-up, with their only regular season HCAC loss coming in their game against the Pios.

Hanover outpaced Transy in the first half in total shots at five to three. HC also matched the aggressive pace of play and held the score at zero-zero through the first forty-five minutes of play.

In the second half Hanover was able to break the tie in the fifty-sixth minute when sophomore forward Andrew Pavlisko struck a loose ball off the bounce (from the top the box) and placed the ball just inside the left pipe, putting the Panthers up one-nil.

Transy found their opportunity to tie the game in the seventy-fourth minute, and were able to hold the Panthers through the remainder of regulation, forcing overtime.

After two overtime periods the score was still at a stalemate, setting the stage for the HCAC Championship to once again be decided by PKs.

The Panthers came up short in penalties, and finished second in the HCAC. Hanover finished the season with an overall record of 14-4-3 and 8-1-1 in HCAC play.
