Women's Lacrosse Ends Season with Win Over MSJ

Cincinnati, OH - The Hanover College women's lacrosse team took to the road for their final game of the 2025 season yesterday to take on the Mt St Joseph University Lions.

The Panthers came out blazing and scored seven unanswered goals through the first twenty-two minutes of action. Senior midfielder Abby Mensing netted the opening goal off an assist from freshman midfielder Alysha Baker, followed by a solo-effort goal from fellow senior midfielder Anissa Weber. Abby Mensing kept it rolling for the Panthers and scored her second goal of the day after beating her defender one-on-one. The Panthers lead 3-0 after the first quarter of play.

In the second, senior midfielder Abby Mensing would once again be the beneficiary of an assist, this time from freshman attackman Quinn Cherry. Cherry stayed involved in the offense and found her first goal of the day off an assist from freshman attackman Brooklyn Walker on an extra-man possession - and then Quinn Cherry tallied her third consecutive point by once again finding an open teammate backside for a goal in sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Madden.

The Lions were able to put a brief halt to the Panthers run by making it 7-1 mid-way through the second quarter. From this point on, the game would be a lot more "tit-for-tat" in terms of scoring, but the Panthers were able to ultimately string together more multiple-goal runs in the end. Senior midfielder Anissa Weber netted the final goal of the first half coming off an assist from freshman midfielder Alysha Baker, giving the Panthers a 9-2 advantaged heading into the break.

Hanover netted nine more goals in the second half, goal scorers included sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Madden, senior midfielder Abby Mensing, freshman attackman Quinn Cherry, and freshman attackman Mallory Mahin - assists in the second half came from senior midfielder Anissa Weber, freshman defender Kaylee Johnsonbaugh, Kaitlyn Madden, and Mallory Mahin.

Hanover went on to win, 18-8, and finishing with an HCLC record of 2-3 in their first season under the direction of Head Coach Ashlie Bobb.
