CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their yearly Women's Basketball awards with three Panthers being honored, including the league's Newcomer of the Year.
Freshman
Emerson Vlcan was named the Newcomer of the Year while also being named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Senior
Alexis Wines earned Second Team All-HCAC accolades while her teammate, senior
Kaitlyn Lorenzi was awarded Honorable Mention honors.
EMERSON VLCAN
Vlcan was a force in the paint, ranking second among the league in blocked shots averaging 1.8 per game, 46 in total, also a team best.
She finished the year averaging 7.4 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest. Emerson recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in a contest with Anderson.
Vlcan finished the season ranked first in defensive rebounds (199) and second among the team in total rebounds (151).
ALEXIS WINES
Wines posted an impressive senior season finishing third among the league in points per game at 15.8. She logged a league best 905 minutes of court action while netting 410 total points. The senior finished the year fourth in three-point field goals per game (2.0).
Alexis ranked sixth in assists per game (3.5) and 10
th overall in assist to turnover ratio (0.8). She also claimed top 10 marks in field goal percentage (36.1), three-point percentage (30.1) and free-throw percentage (80.8).
KAITLYN LORENZI
Lorenzi was key in all facets of the game for the Panthers. She finished the season ranked fourth among the HCAC in scoring (11.2), rebounding (10.3), and total rebounds (269).
The senior led the Panthers in defensive rebounds (199), offensive rebounds (70), and rebounds per game (10.3).
Lorenzi finished the year shooting 44.3 from the field, including 40.6 percent from three-point.
