Softball Secures Game One at Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hanover (2-4 overall) splits doubleheader at Southwestern, defeating the Pirates in game one 7-6 before surrendering the night cap 9-3.
 
GAME ONE
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Junior Madi Kammer paced the Panthers with three RBI, including a triple and a double on two at-bats.
 
Freshman Claire King added two RBI on two hits and four at-bats. She also tallied two runs.
 
In the circle, sophomore Lulu Van Beek claimed her second win of the season pitching six and two thirds inning with six strikeouts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hanover used a strong fourth inning, getting quality at-bats from King and Kammer. King tallied an RBI double to right field before Kammer tripled pushing the Panthers in front 4-1.
 
The sixth inning saw them tack on three more runs as Kammer deemed clutch once more with a hard hit to third that helped second HC to victory 7-6.
 
GAME TWO
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

King went 2-for-4 at the dish while her teammate, freshman Ally Crist added a run on one hit.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Southwestern pushed the game nearly out of reach using a six run first inning.
 
Despite the success, Hanover continued to hang around as freshman Morgan Bailey plated the Panthers first run in the second inning, 6-1.
 
Hanover added one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth inning before being shutdown in the seventh with two runners left on base.
