CARMEL, Ind. – After a standout debut season on the links, Hanover College freshman Cassidy Clark has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Newcomer of the Year, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
 
Clark capped an impressive first collegiate campaign by turning in one of the top newcomer performances at the HCAC Championship, finishing fifth overall to earn All-Tournament Team honors and lead the Panthers at Anderson Country Club.
 
Cassidy opened the three-day championship with an 81 to sit tied for third after round one before surging into contention on day two with an impressive 80 — one of the best rounds in the field — moving into a tie for second place entering championship Sunday. Clark closed the tournament with a 90 to finish with a 54-hole total of 251, securing fifth overall and finishing as the highest-placing freshman in the championship field.
