Ashley Birchmeier enters the 2025-26 academic year in her seventhn full year at Hanover College. She was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communication in August 2019. In 2024 she was named the Senior Woman Administrator.
Birchmeier, a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CSC), directs the coverage of Hanover’s 22 varsity athletic programs, including compiling and disseminating information about the Panthers to the media, community and opposing institutions. Ashley helped launch the annual Athletic Day of Giving which continues to be a great success in support of Hanover student-athletes. She also coordinates the department’s efforts on their various social media platforms and is a liaison with the College’s Office for Communications and Marketing.
Birchmeier serves as an acting committee member on the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Athlete of the Week as well as the Associate Press Division III All-America committee.
She comes to Hanover after serving as the Sports Information Director at Defiance College for two years. While at DC, she helped with the promotional efforts of 21-varsity teams, while also serving as a professor in the Sport Management Department. She helped grow the Yellow Jacket social media out reach to nearly double in just under a year, while also adding an athletic department Instagram account.
Prior to Defiance, Birchmeier served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communication at Muskingum University. While at Muskingum, she helped coordinate the media relations and promotional efforts for 21-varsity sports, as well as developed and trained students on all aspects of game day management.
Birchmeier also spent two years at Ohio Northern where she served as the Assistant Sports Information Director. While at ONU, she helped coordinate the media relations and promotional efforts for 23-varsity sports and managed the Polar Bear social media programs, which included a YouTube channel, Twitter feed, and Facebook page. Moreover, Birchmeier served as the Assistant Sports Information contact for the 2015 NCAA Division III Tennis Championships and was the main media contact for the 2015 OHSAA Men's District and Women's Regional Basketball Tournament.
Furthermore, Birchmeier strengthened her sports information craft when she helped managed the NCAA Men's Basketball Division I Championships second and third round events during the 2015 and 2019 seasons.
Birchmeier, a Defiance College alumna and a four-year varsity letter winner as a member of the women's basketball program, graduated in May 2014 with a B.A. in Business Administration. She furthered her education at Bowling Green State University, where she earned her Master's of Education in Sport Administration in May 2016.
Ashley resides in Madison, Ind., with her dog Mia.
