Brandvik's 16 kills guide volleyball to win over Earlham

Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – Behind a season high 16 kills from senior Kelsey Brandvik (Indianapolis, Ind.), the Hanover volleyball team earned its 20th victory of the season in a 3-0 home decision against Earlham.

Brandvik, who entered Wednesday evening's match with five double-digit kill efforts to her name this fall, hit .625 en route to a new season high kill total. Overall, Hanover hit .360, which is its second highest mark of 2017.

Four Panthers posted at least nine total attacks while hitting above .300. Junior Margo Main (Ann Arbor, Mich.) added eight kills while hitting .375.

Defensively, senior Monique Huynh (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the charge with 11 digs. Junior Claire Dennis (Bloomington, Ind.) and sophomore Ally Williams (Fountaintown, Ind.) pitched in with eight apiece as well.

Dennis led the defensive front at the net, logging a block assist on six different occasions. The Blue and Red finished with eight total team blocks, tying their second highest mark in a three-set match this season.

Junior Abby Crump (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded a team high 18 assists, while classmate Haley Alexander (Martinsville, Ind.) posted 15 helpers and two of HC's three service aces.

Hanover opened the match by winning the first two sets by a count of 25-18. In both of the opening frames, HC used short scoring spurts to extend its lead to a comfortable margin, before closing with seven-point victories.

The Panthers then scored 14 of the first 20 points in the third set. The Quakers (14-10, 2-4 HCAC) closed the gap to six points, 16-10, but another extended run gave HC a 25-12 set decision.

The win improves Hanover to 20-5 overall and a perfect 6-0 in HCAC play. Hanover has also won 24 consecutive HCAC regular season matches.

The Panthers will break from conference play Thursday, Oct. 19, as they host Florida College for a 7 p.m. contest.
