Stout defensive effort extends women's soccer win streak to 10

Box Score

RICHMOND, Ind. – A balanced team effort gave the Hanover College women's soccer team their 10th straight victory in a 3-0 win over Earlham College Saturday.

The Panthers, now 3-0-0 in HCAC play ceded zero shots on goal to the Quakers who fall to 6-6-0 overall on the season. The scoring got off to a rather slow start, but freshman Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) found the back of the net in the 18th minute to give the Panthers life. The goal was one of two for Day in the contest as she also scored in the 54th minute to bring her season point total up to 11.

Senior Cassidy Evanson (Carmel, Ind.) added her own goal in the 46th minute making this three straight contests in which the forward has scored.

The Red and Blue dominated possession, allowing just one errant shot late in the second half, though Earlham did have late opportunities to get on the board. They took corner kicks in the 74th and 88th minute, each of which were cleared without shots on goal. Freshman Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.) earned her fourth shutout of the season in the win.

Overall, the Panthers outshot the Quakers 15-1 with nine of them being on target. They also took triple the number of corner kicks, attempting 12 to Earlham's four.

Next up for the Red and Blue is another conference match as they host Rose Hulman. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m., on the campus of Hanover College.
