Second Half Goal Leads Women's Soccer Past Earlham

Box Score

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers net a second half goal to defeat Earlham on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the Soccer Complex, 1-0.

The Blue and Red (6-4-1 overall, 3-0-0) remain perfect in HCAC play after pitching their third shutout of the season. Leading the way for the Panthers was sophomore Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) with the game-winning goal, her second of the season.

As a team, the Panthers finished with a game-high 25 shots, 15 of which were on frame.

Hanover attacked the Quakers early in the contest as sophomore Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) fired off three shots within the first seven minutes of the contest that were all saved by the Earlham keeper.

The Panthers would get another shot before the half as freshman Josie Dattilo (Montogomery, Ohio) fired off a shot that was once again saved by the Quaker defensemen.

However, Hanover wasted little time getting on the board in the second half as Hughes placed a shot in the upper 90 from the 18-yard box that beat the Quaker keeper for the go-ahead goal, 1-0.

The Blue and Red defense combated Earlham for the remainder of the game with sophomore Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.) getting the win in frame with three saves.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, October 16 as they take on Rose-Hulman. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
